September 14 was the day when history was created with around 250 alumni residing in various parts of Delhi and NCR met at Malviya Smriti Bhawan (a place which gives an emotional high about the founder of the Institute) and thus officially inaugurating the Delhi-NCR chapter. This is reported to be the one of the biggest get-together of alumni in the history of the Institute outside Jaipur. It was a proud moment for the Institute as both the alumni and students worked with full zeal and enthusiasm and contributed to the noble cause of developing strong ties between alumni and their alma mater.
The program commenced with lamp lighting in front of Pt. Madan Mohan Malaviya Ji. Welcome address was given by Mr. Sunil Kala (1971 Batch). The announcer of the function was Mr. Tapovardhan Agrawal (1977 Batch). The chief guest of the function was the Director of the institute Prof. I.K.Bhat. Prof. Bhat gave an insight of the developmental works going on in the institute. He also laid emphasis on building strong ties between the alumni and their alma mater as this ultimately helps in upliftment of the institute. He suggested many ways of giving back to the institute, not just in the form of monetary support but also in the form of mentoring students, by helping in training and placements or by taking workshops, guest lectures at Institute.
The function was attended by Dr. Pawan Kalla (Coordinator Alumni Affairs), Prof. S.L. Soni (Coordinator Training and placement) and Prof. Dilip Sharma (Associate Dean Alumni Affairs). Prof. Sharma gave a presentation on the activities of Alcom.
An alumnus of 1977, Mr. Gurdev Singh Soin, shared his experience while being at MNIT two weeks back and appreciated the developments of MNIT. Mr. R.C. Khandelwal from of 1972 batch, announced to donate Rs. 1 lakh to the institute every year for the next five years. Mr. Atul Sharma of 1986 batch presented a beautiful poem on Malaviyans.
A Brief demo of the upcoming Alumni Portal was given by Mr. Prerit Goyal of 2014 pass out batch. The function was concluded by the vote of thanks from Mr. Sandeep Sharma of 1988 batch and Mr. Saurabh Devnani (student coordinator of AlCom).
Institute is thankful to all the batch coordinators without whose efforts this would not have been possible.
The institute feels proud to acknowledge that members from all the batches (Since 1969 to 2014) were present in this event. MNIT (earlier known as MREC) is privileged to have such alumni who not just believe in achieving success but believes in achieving it with glory. We wish that this Delhi NCR chapter will come up as a vibrant and purposeful group for whole MNIT Family.
The institute would like to wish luck and good health to the entire Malaviyan fraternity of Delhi- NCR chapter.
